Remarks:
It is in search of love that Jack, in a scene that portends his ultimate fate, unknowingly enters a hostile place and falls prey to Joe Aguirre’s own “sucker punch.”

Jack’s reaction has been the subject of considerable debate. Does he respond by leaving Aguirre’s trailer in humiliation? Or, as has also been suggested, does he depart with his head held high in an expression of “pre-Stonewall pride”?
